The Vivid Emotive Letters

I am one man,
A man of passions, ambitions, dreams, hopes, fears and emotions, all vivid,
A man of peace, a man of light, a man of truth,
A man of habit and destiny and fate and karma.

Or that is what I would like to believe who I am,
But there are other parts, dark parts of me,
That pull at any goodness I seek to develop,
That tear at me, suppress me, lead me astray, that never leave me alone.

So it is true, you win a battle to fight another one,
Or forfeit the fight, to survive to live another day,
Or fight and fight and fight, and keep fighting,
I am so weary; I feel this war may never end.

But I cannot give up hope, because of the knowledge I have,
The truth I myself have taught, know is true,
Keeps me safe, is the armor I wear, and never fails me,
It is I who have failed the armor from time to time.

God should never be left out of our hearts, our minds, and souls,
What we believe is guaranteed through our liberty,
And I celebrate Christmas, as a Christian, as an American, as a man, as a believer,
And that liberty I enjoy is to free to everyone, so why does the world hate me?

Hate me for the way I may speak, or the money I work for,
For the freedom paid for in blood by my ancestors and fellow brothers and sisters, of the past and present?
For the religion I love and give of myself to be a part of, for the morals I fight this war to keep?
What is this hatred for goodness, and why is it cloaked in the shapes of entertainment, justice, and the greatest illusion of innocence with a price?

Our world is a battleground of morality,
A bloodbath of predators preying on innocence,
Where darkness spreads like the winds,
And sieges upon all that is good, and all that I am.
