Light Leaks by Samus-Merid
Written 6/21/2016 – Listening to Fractures – It’s Alright
I am a wanderer, a seeker, a searcher,
Thirsting for something I can almost taste,
Grasping at wind streams and shadows,
Barely capturing something ever more meaningful…just beyond my view.
I have been under the bright heat of the sun in my soul,
I have baked upon the endless fields of salt and sand,
Those fields that are the wandering thoughts that become a journey of discovery,
Where persistence has gifted me wisdom almost too precious to share.
It is a spring in the desert,
A gem in a sea of glass,
A simple unadorned cup in a warehouse of chalices,
A bright ember amid a torrential rain of fire.
I cannot hold back the flood that is this emotion,
I cannot hide this light that burns from my soul outward,
I cannot deny the power that is this truth,
My hardened heart has cracked trying to bury deep in doubt this precious knowledge that:
We are irrevocably connected, every single one,
From the smallest to the largest, you are loved and always have been,
You are part of a family that will continue forever,
Your destiny is a legacy, that started long before you took your first steps,
And will continue to grow in brightness long after you have taken your last.
This light, this fire, this emotion, this connection, this closeness, this bond,
Is open, is free, is available, is yearning, is reaching out for you to take part,
The only piece to this puzzle is if you will cast off the layers of bias and thick curtain of tradition,
And see each other and yourself as you truly are, and then choose to act likewise in kindness and love.
Let this light grow within you, think on it, ponder its value and feel it’s potency,
Seek ways to engage it, set it aflame in others and bring them from the shadows,
That shadow this world has taught us to hide behind, to limit how much we love, or care,
Taught us to hate, and kill and abuse each other , it has burred our vision that we are all the same family.
And as family I was destined to stand by your side,
And you were destined to stand by mine,
I was meant to dry your tears, and bind your wounds, and carry your burdens,
And you were meant to do the same, and together we could save each other.
And together, we could partake in the light of life, and love and kindness,
And know the joy that is family, and friendship, and hope of forgiveness,
And share the sadness of loss and ease the weight of hardship,
And lift one another until we cross the veil of this life together and sit down in rest and peace forever.
